The very first upset at the World Cyber Games was seen in the second round of the group stage, when k23 from Kazakhstan defeated the German hope Alternate.

With the absence of mousesports, German should be rooting for Alternate at World Cyber Games. Alternate got drawn into a group with mTw, k23, ATE and Guerilla_Method. The Danes should on the paper be the toughest opponent, but the Kazakhstani team proved the experts wrong. A nail-biting close map went down to the wire with a 16:14 win on tuscan for the Kazakhstani team, k23. Tuscan is known to be a map on which German teams have a clear advantage, but the Kazakhstanis was clearly well prepared.
